Hi,
Does anyone know if there is anything in fresh tap water that affects a pH meter reading?
The reason being both my pH meter and liquid pH tester both show the same results in all solutions (aquarium, 6.5 buffered soloution, etc), but not in my fresh tap water. Liquid test shows roughly 7 while pH meter shows just over 8. However if I stir the fresh tap water regularly within half an hour the pH meter is showing around 7 just like the liquid test!
Could it be the dissolved chlorine that is slowly evaporating from the water that affects the meter?
Calling any scientists
