if putting wood into your tank lowers PH what effect will putting more/less wood into the tank ?

for example will putting twice as much wood into a tank make the ph drop by twice as much ? or will it take half as much time to drop ?

Assuming you're using Mopani or bogwood, the pH lowering affect is only slight. The pH scale is logarithmic, eg meaning that a pH of 7 has 10 times more Hydrogen ions than a pH of 6, and a pH of 8 is a 1000 times higher than 6, and so on. What are your tank stats and set up, things like CO2 can reduce ph markedly.

It's the other way round! pH of 6 has 10 times the H+ ions as pH 7. But the comment is still valid.

wood won't actually make much of a difference for very long. There has been some testing done on the matter, if i can find it i'll share it.

Agree with the above. Very little alteration is caused by wood. Mine stays at 7.2 no matter whether its in my planted tank or malawi tank. I've just given up now and go with hardy type fish that accept a wider range of water chemistry.
