Is a Ph of 7.4 to high for a betta or is it still ok?

It's ok. If the tapwater used at the lfs was nearly the same, no problem at all. Plus, they are somewhat resilient, so they should adapt rather easily.

my lfs is like not even a 5 min drive from me so it shoud be the same

iv really gott buy a new ph kit, my old ones telling me my ph is over 8 and if so i would think my fishy would be dead
