Hi I need to know what the PH level should be with a tank that has 1 Yellow Gourami,1 big scale Diamond shark, and 2 Rainbow Tetra's.(And of course an algee eater.)

What is the ph now. You could get by with 7.0 which is neutral. How big of tank do you have?? What kind of algee eater do you have?? You could run in to some problems with space. The pleco grows up to 24 inches which is very true because I have one. And I am currently houses him in a 180 gallon tank.

Right now the PH level is about 7.3. I have a 27 gallon tank. My algee eater is a basic one i got at the pet store and the colour of it is Black.Don't worry about the space thing because when they get to big i just send them back to the pet store and get a new one :hey: .

How odd to buy fish that you don't intend to keep. Do other people do this?
I get too attached to my fish. I wanted to rehome some to get some neons but couldn't choose between them! Still working on getting that second tank but we just got a kitten so I'll probably have to wait 'til christmas!!

I would imagine 7.3 is fine but I have never kept or researched this fish so I'd see what Angel Lady says.

Not helpful I know but I had to respond as I just don't get the thing about getting rid of fish, mine even have names (all of them, including the black widows)!

Your ph should be 7.3 That will be fine for the fish you have. Fish can adjust to most any reasonable ph, between 6.0 & 8.0. Ph swings will kill fish sooner than a stable ph. There's no reason to adjust the ph you have.

I agree with tolak they are no reason to adjust the ph it will do your fish more harm than good. I dont see how you could keep a fish that long and trade it off for another one that is going to do the same thing grow again. I wont let not one of my fish go and if I think they need a bigger tank then I some how manage to buy them a bigger one. I started out with a 10 gallon tank and now all I have is 55 gallon tanks and 1, 180 gallon. I got rid of all my small tanks. And my fish are so happy. To me this is what fish keeping is all about is making sure you give your fish the space and the time they need and they will reward you by staying healthy and happy...

7.3 sound pretty nice for ur fish all my tank right now r on 8. And I dont want to change it. Due to chemical isn't something I like. And I bet fish wouldn't like them either. So rather let it be.
