Hello to all..

I'm setting up a 10 gallon tank to hold about 4 bumblebee gobies. The ones that are sold at my LFS are in freshwater and not in brackish water. I've tried searching online but can't put my finger on an approximate pH level. What would be the recommended pH for my tank? Right now the pH without any fish is approximately 7.6

Thanks..

I hate to say it but I think your LFS is scamming ya. A lot of stores sell them as freshwater but Bumblebee Gobies are definately Brackish fish.

I'll double check again but they appeared to be in freshwater. :dunno:

Oh I have no doubt they are in fresh water at the pet store. The thing is they shouldnt be. If you want them to be happy and healthy they should be in brackish water. If you dont have anything else in the tank you could set it up for brackish. Takes about the same stuff as freshwater, would just need a hydromator, and marine salt. That is f you really want them. Otherwise check out Dwarf Puffers they are little cuties too and are freshwater. They are aggressive fish tho.

I'll swing by there tomorrow and grill them with questions on why they have the fish in freshwater. I'll check out the Dwarf Puffers too. They sound neat. :D

The way to tell if they're brackish or FW is the bands. I think if they have a black belly, they're brackish. If the yellow bands go all the way round, they're FW. Or the orther way round, but check in the brackish section...

I have bumblebee gobies and they like their ph 7.0 with salty water.
