hey all...just added some new fish to my tank....used a stress coat yesterday....usually the tank gets cloudy after that but clears up in a day....the tank is still cloudy today? maybe a bacteria bloom ?

also tested my water today...for first time in a week, and pH levels are low....seems about 6.5 ....usually keep it at 7.

Ive recently added some wood and rocks to my tank also...is this what possibly altered the pH? but i did do a test on all these rocks to make sure they werent going to alter the pH before i put them in the tank and i thought if it did change at all...it would go up... anything else that would lower pH? ? ?

My fish: 2 electric blue jack dempseys, 2 krib cichlids, 1 blue ram, 1 gold ram , 1 bolivian ram, 1 buenos aires tetra, 1 blk phantom tetra, 1 butterfly pleco, 1 king tiger pleco, 2 silver dollars.

Is neutral the best pH for this tank?

Most likely the wood has cause the drop. It could also be part of the cloudyness as most wood will leech tanins into the water. It generally gives it more of a tea color look though.

Your pH should be fine. Most fish can adapt to a pH that's outside their optimal range. It easier to let it just settle and as long as it stays stable, it's fine. Trying to keep it at a specific number only causes problems. Most of the fish you have are have a pH range down into the mid 6s anyway.
