Hey guys,

I'm done cycling, was going to begin with 4 neon tetras today. Tested water for ph and gh for the first time today, and i got a ph between 7.5 and 8 and gh is about 19.
Is this bad, and if so, what should I do?

Thanks

They're both too high for wild caught tetras but as yours will almost certainly be captive bred then they'll probably be alright. Most low pH, soft water fish can adapt to elevated levels of both. However, neon tetras are not a very hardy fish and would not normally be used as the first fish in a newly cycled tank as any mini cycle that may occur once they're in will probably cause casualties.

If you want to make the water parameters right for them you'd need to get a reverse osmosis setup and mix the water from that with your tap water to get a lower pH and GH.
