i've been looking for pets insurance for the two mainecoons, i'm just overloaded with choices. can anyone reconmmend any? most of the companies i contacted don't take on cats that are over the age of 9. which i think is abit of ripoff, as older pets are more likely to be in need of treatments. or some of the ones that do, you have to pay a higher premium to start with in order for them to continue to insure your pets as they get older. i just don't want use them just out of principles.

We have all four of our cats insured with sainsburys, they are the best in price and at a gold level. we wouldnt move.

I'll not recommend a company but I will recommend a type,
get one that is not contingent on you re applying every year
this way if you cats need ongoing treatment year on year for the
same thing they won't be able to turn around in the second year
and say "that is an existing condition and we are not paying"

the best type of insurance is better explained by your vet, but be wary if they try to recommend a company
as they could be on commission.

thanks karl1987. i had a look and they seem ok.

tropicalgirl2007 - i don't know how much you paid for your 4 cats, but i got quoted over £150 for each cats. assuming your is the same, you must have quite a large insurance bill with your 4 lol.

the wolf - i did asked the vet for a company and the one she reconmmended was one of those that don't accept pets over 9yrs, so no need to say i didn't go with them.

I have my bengals insured with marks and Spencer - they offer good cover and it's not been a problem to get them to pay out
