Mom and I bought two crowntail bettas that were on sale, one betta we had to return because it died and there was still a 15 day worrenty on it (Also on a topic I made "I think my betta has fin rot"). Well we had trouble with the manager and we had to the oringonal full price on it!! (Which was 6.45 and it was reduced to 2.99.) Tell me shoulden't we just should've had the sale price than have payed full price. All I know is I won't shop for bettas there again. :grr:

Huh, I love petco.
Its pretty much the only place I've ever bought fish.
Never bought bettas though.
Hate to say it, but its like something you'd buy at a furniture store - if you buy it on sale, and it breaks, no refunds or returns.
Its the name of the game.
I've seen myself workers at petco talking to un-knowing bettas owners about how to properly care for a betta, and I've also seen workers take a little baggy with the dead fish in it in one hand, and escorte the (usually) mom and child(s) to the betta shelf, where they pic out a new betta under warrenty.

You're post is hard to understand..I'm not sure if you are saying you paid full price, then they went on sale, and when you tried to return the fish they didn't want to give you full price (like you paid), or if you paid a sale price then when you went back they were back to the original price and they woudln't give you the full price back (which you didn't pay).

Regardless of sales, whatever you paid for the fish is what you are suposed to get back...if you still have your receipt, that's how you prove how much you paid for something.

I'm not sure how long a warranty they have at Petco, or how long you had the fish, but having 15 days left on the warranty...it doesn't necessarily mean it was Petco's fault the fish died. Sometimes they just die, being moved around is stressful on fish...and if they aren't acclimated properly..well, things can go bad.

Sorry about your fish, but try not to be so bitter.

I have gotten several of my bettas from Petco, PetSmart, even some from the dreaded WalMart and I have only had 1 death. A lot depends on how old the fish was to begin with, what kind of health they were in, and whether or not they can handle stress and transporting. My very first betta, Sharkbait was from PetSmart and he is about 3 years old now and still going strong. Give them another chance and if you have another bad experience, try a different fish store.

If you paid full price for them AND had your sales receipt, then you should have gotten full price back for them. If you didn't have the sales receipt though, you should only expect to get back what they are currently selling for. That is true with any product. I have had it happen to me on clothes before. They can't give back the $6.49 that you say you paid if they have been on sale for a week at $2.99 unless you can prove what you paid. Otherwise, you could make good money buying at the low sale price, killing the fish and returning at the higher regular price, making $3.50 per fish.
