Hello all,

Ive recently had big problems with glass nems tried everything even peppermint shrimp but when we got him he was a small baby so he didnt eat any of them.

Aferwhich i got tired of them and decided to start over again without LR (which brought me the problems).

Everything went fantasticly well got it all cycled got a brain and some shrooms. Then went to a place where i dont usually go and bang glass nems again. But this time i found some adult peppermints at my usual place bought three and now i dont have a problem.

Ive found out that these shrimp are nocturnal animals and dont like light at all.. so its hard to keep them alive with a invert only tank. But after some research i found out that they go crazy for earth worms and marine flakes.

These shrimp are gonna be a need for future reef keepers in the UK because every LFS ive been to has had glass nems in their systems. Even the sealife centre at blackpool has problems with them.

Just a for warning guys :good:

Are you sure you have pepps? I've heard of camel shrimps being nocturnal, but not pepps.

And mine don't seem to dislike the light. When there's food in the tank, I don't think they'd care what the tank was like. And if your's do seem to be real peps that don't like the light, you just need to put food in the tank after lights out.

I would make sure you acutally have peppermints.

pepps and camels look basically identical look at there latin name and see if they are similar bcuz even lfs get mixed up as they keep both in a same tank

Do camels eat glass nems? if not i dont have camels because all my glass nems have gone eaten by the shrimps i have.. they are a pinkish colour with darker pink lines..

They like too hide behind my rock work i read somewhere that pepps are nocurnal and spesh when mine are hiding i thought it true.

Go figure.

sounds like you have peppermints. they are mostly nocturnal andyou are doing the right thing by keeping theminlarger groups as they then beccome more bold.

Dont worry about feeding them, they are scavengers and should be treted like that, they will find plenty of food after the lights go out in the tank.
