Help--- I cant keep one of these guys alive. I just lost my third one and I give up. I acclimented for 4 hours each one, and I have been testing daily, all my params look great! What could I be doing wrong?

Could be a million things:
1) are they newly arrived at the lfs?
2) what's your s.g?
3) what are your params?
4) any chance that there is copper in your water? using RO?

SH

not newly arrived, they had been in for two weeks. Im using distilled water that I pick up at the local high school chem lab (friend of mine is the teacher), so I know the water is pure. everythign is testing in the 0-5 ppm range and my sg hovers at .23-.24

Are other invertebrates living in the same tank? Are you sure the shrimp are dead- they tend to spend a lot of time hiding?

On a side note, maybe worth checking that the school is not using a copper condenser on the distiller. I'm not sure on the US school system but this is probably unlikely if they are using the water produced for 'proper' chemistry.

EXCELLENT ED..that's true...is the condenser copper?????? WOW. Good thought. Also, could it be molt that you see and the shrimp are still alive? I think you should test your distilled for copper. SH

Wh else frequents this tank? :p I think that water from your uni sounds dodgy, like SH said, deffinately test it. It could be the way they are storing it too.

Im sure its not a molt, Ive seen them molt before. It was his body I fished out. AS for the water I had it tested and there is no copper in it.

So they are dying right away? Or are some of them lasting a while? Not very likely but it could be that you are getting older ones, as their lifespan is only about 2 years. Are you testing ph as well?
