Cheers for that, im a newbie getting back into marines and my new live rock came with aiptasia zapped a few with JJ, will prob get a peppermint shrimp .

I don't know why, but my peppermints did not touch the Aiptasia I had in my tank. I also read about quite a lot of other people with the same problem.

I think the peppers will eat other stuff if its there, try cutting down on your feeding for a few days and see what happens then,

our peppers completely obliterated our aptasia,

Yeah i read on a few sites that they had peppermints that didnt eat there aiptasia
i just got them to see if they would as i was using joes juice and they where coming back a few days later
my peppermint shrimp must have gone on a rampage when the lights went out lol

I just got one from reefcritters and my sixline wrasse tried to eat it so it now lives in the sump.

Are you sure that what you have is a peppermint shrimp and not the similar looking imposter commonly known as "camel shrimp"?

Just what I was going to say, make sure its a true peppermint shrimp, some shrimps are sold as peppermints but aren't. Mine have eaten all the small aip's in my tank on day 1!

Peppermints 1, Aiptasia's nil. Back of the net!

Oh I'm 100% sure that what I got where peppermints. Also these where one of the first inhabitants for my tank, no fish or anything in there so no feeding at all.

As they say, you can lead a horse to water etc etc...

Maybe they are fussy, and don't like aiptasia'a?

If you have a copy of Oct '05 Marine World Mag its got an artical in there about all the differant shrimps and what can be sold as a peppermint shrip can be one of three species! Best was to check is if you LFS likes you then take a bit of you LR with some of the Aps on it and sit it in the tank with the so called 'peppermint shrimps' you'll soon know if the like it or not.

Peppermint shrimps are great, but if you have alot of aiptasia, once they have feasted on the nems they may well not eat anything else and end up dying. There are various things you can offer peppermints, they tend to enjoy bits of whole prawn or cockle etc.
