I'm not too keen on putting many more fish in my tank, but thought I needed something in there to go rund the bottom cleaning up a bit and was planning of getting a Corydora, However I read that they perfer to live in groups so suddenly found myself planning for three of them. Now I have read something else that suggest they aren't terribly good at cleaning anyway an prefer thier own sinking food. I don;t mind subsidising their food with some pellets etc, but honestly wanted them as a cleaner fish. Should I still get them? Is there something else that would do the job more sucessfully? Or are isn;t there really a fish that does tidy up the junk at the bottom - i certainly wouldn;t like to if I was a fish.

All comments welcome

Thanks

How big is the tank? If it is 10 gallons or bigger you can get a bristlenose pleco or if it is over a 100 gallon you can get a common pleco. And if you really want the coryadas then you need at least 4 of them.

Do you know how many gallons it is in the us because I never new that they made different aquariums for different countries until I came here. And one bristlenose would be ok in their. But if you wanted you could get a common pleco if you had plans of getting a bigger tank in a couple years.

Corys are good scavengers, ie, cleaning up left over food. They won't eat algae. As mentioned though, they are schooling fish so get at least 4 and preferable 6.

I'm not sure what I'm planning for the future yet lol. I wanted ONE tropical fish tank for my birthday and already have three, and I've realised my tanks aren;t really big enough for some of the species I might like to keep later particualrly more gouramis, and my daughter has caught the bug and wants a tanks now too lol. Maybe I'll just waterproof the interior of th house, seal the doors, fill it with water, and take to waering a wetsuit and aqualung lol. At this rate I think fish keeping shopuld carry a health warning as it's the most addicitive thing I know and effects so many aspects of your life. Conversation is all fish orientated, house work is abandoned to watch a potential mating or observe other fishy rituals, and the computer is getting hogged by me seeking fishy info.
I think I will probably keep with my original plan and get the three Corydoras and see how things go.

Thanks for input
