changed the water in my tank two days ago and lowered the temp of the tank by a few degrees which seems to have made my corries want to spawn, just found around 5 eggs on the side of the glass scouped them out and placed them in my breeding net inside the tank. Should be plenty of waterflow for them as its next to my internal filter so should have enuf waterflow.

anyone had any luck with breeding corries in a community tank and have u got any tips for me?

how long should the eggs take to hatch?

thanks

The other fish will suck the eggs through the breeder net. I normally pull cory eggs and then hatch them in a small tank with and air stone and heater- it doesnt need to be cycled. You will need to add methyblu to the water until you see wrigglers, at which point it should be removed using carbon.

using another tank is not possible as im at university and only have the one tank in my bedroom, most of the eggs are attached to the side of the net that is neer the side of the tank, so it will be hard for them to get to the eggs.

what is that methyblu u mentioned?

any other suggestions?

the fish still seem to be spawning so ive turned the lights off and covered the tank with a towel to stop them from getting spooked. il check in an hour or so to see if theres any more eggs! the fish have been the most active ive ever seen since ive turned the temp down, ive also been feeding frozen dalphania for past week which might have triggered the breeding also.

both things you did triggered the breeding!

Well done!

the tanks only just started to become clear as i have a large piece of bogwood in and it keeps releasing tannin's into the water, i dont know if that has affected them in the past.

anything i can do to protect the eggs? what do i need to do if the eggs hatch into fry?
