Having peppered catfish on a rough gravel base really messes them up. At first i thought they had a swim bladder problem as they would lose bouyancy but it appears their barbules wear out on the gravel and they stop feeding. I havent any now and i would advise anyone to have a pebbly base or sand. My zebra and khuli loaches arent bothered at all about the gravel and enjoy rooting about for food.
