pepper cory sex differents

i want to know the differents in male and female pepper corys so i can breed them, i have one now but i need to know the sex. also how many females to males

It's usually easy to tell the sex of mature cory cats by their size and shape, but when they're still young they both look the same. The females are bigger--both longer and wider than the males. The shape of the male's ventral fins is more pointed than that of the female, but without having others to compare it to it is hard to tell. Most corys for sale at the lfs are too young to tell.

Your best bet, if you plan to breed them is to buy 5 or 6 young ones and spend the time to raise them. This way when they mature you will have some of each sex. Also, if something happens to one of them you will have back up which you would not have if you only buy a pair. Another advantage to this is that you can raise them on live foods, spirulina discs, etc so that they will be strong and healthy when the time for breeding finally comes.

the easiest way to sex the majority of the corydora's species if by seeing under neither then the 2 plates under neither them on the underside that look like armor plating next to there pectorial fins the males will be closer together almost looking as if there touching and the females where seen from under neith can be seen to are more prodomantly parted with a gap between them


easy was to check if a small holding tank where u can safely contain the fish in and are able to veiw them from the under side


was always the way i sexy out my C.Sterbi when splitting my females and male for conditioning for spawning

also eep the ratio to 1 male to 4 females was what i found best the males are more then adiquate to be able to spawn 4 to 6 females and still have a sucessful broob from all spawned females
