People Who sell Live Fish on Ebay

According to ebay rules they don't allow the selling of live animals

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/wildlife.html

Which probably explains why the guy says his auction may be removed at any moment!

Of course, fish are shipped places, how do they get to LFS afterall?! However, this guy is proposing to use regular parcel post - kind of dodgy if you ask me!

I would bu fish from a reputable place on the net but not from some guy who wants to parcel force them to me...they might get lost in the depot for weeks.

I have repoted this to ebay as a rule violation
the item will be removed and the seller will get an official warning

i think its disgusting that they sell live fish on ebay  espesh if they gonna come by royal mail, i mean come on!!! royal mail are notorius for not gettin the mail on time, or for losing them in the post, can u imagine a load of fish being bounced about by royal mail :look:

You're kidding blue ice!!!

I thought you had a good plan there Dannio2004 - I didn't even know you could do that...

...trouble is the guy clearly says on all the listings that he has an account with 100% positive feedback that you have to email for details so he has clearly just started an account for these sales and will make another one next time etc so not sure what use ebay cancelling this account would make in the end.

Not kidding...fish=food according to ebay.

I'm sure many sellers don't realize this and that is why this one created a seperate account.

There are some fish dealers on ebay however that have excellent feedback as far as shipping time and quality of the fish etc...you just have to be careful and make sure it's a decent seller before you place a bid :)

If I found a fish on ebay that I loved, and couldn't get somewhere else cheaper...and the seller shipped the way I wanted it shipped and had excellent feedback...why wouldn't I bid?

Hey Up Dawn, its Nath :)

Anyway back to Subject, I understood that Fish had to be Shipped To the LFS etc, But i Mean Royal mail, mmm need i say more

Most of the people I've seen selling their whole setups including fish seem to require you to pick them up, many won't ship them, which I think is acceptable as long as they know that the fish are going to a good home and the buyer can transport them responsibly  However I think I'd rather sell my fish to someone I knew or donate them to my lfs if I was unable to maintain my tank anymore.

I don't see a problem with selling fish on EBay though I have heard it is against the rules. As long as the fish are shipped quickly and not through the regular post they would be fine. Thats how fish are shipped from Asia to stores around the world.

Isn't there a site where you can bid on fish? I thought there was, I haven't really looked into it.

Not sure about the above but this is straight from the EBay help pages.

Restricted Items:
Restricted items generally do not pose a danger to health, safety or property while being transported, but their transport is regulated or banned for public policy reasons. Many "restricted" items such as, firearms, pets, drug paraphernalia and lock picking devices are not permitted to be listed on eBay under other eBay rules.

Generally, restricted items that may be lawfully transported by mail or common carrier are permitted on eBay, unless otherwise prohibited by eBay rules. Examples of restricted items that may be listed on eBay include tropical fish, insects such as honeybees or worms, and some knives. However specific packing arrangements will apply and should be agreed with the Royal Mail.

i used to work for a courier company and the thing that would worry me is the way the boxes get transported and thrown around the depot, i mean the word fragile means throw it harder, if it coming by parcel force i dont fancy the chances of receiving them ALIVE!!!!!!
