Sometimes (lets say once a day) my Penguin Mini makes a churning sound, as if its filling itself with water, for a few seconds. As it is stopping, tiny bubbles are comming out of the filter out-take. Then it stops and continues running quietly.

I'm not quite sure why its doing this, but I am wondering if it is time to consider looking for a new filter to have as a backup (if I can find a sale on one now it might be better than having to run out to the store and pay to much).

You thoughts?

Could be that there are bubbles in it. Try turning it off, emptying it out and then before you plug it back in make sure you fill it with water. them put the intake back in the tank and start it up. Or maybe just kind of hit it (like a vcr) this tends to dislodge the air bubbles. If that doesn't work. Keep it as a backup or go to tijuana, buy an M1000 and blow that sucker up! I love explosions.
