I need to get a new filter because my Marineland Regent is finally slowing down after 7 years of service! I was wondering if the Penguin models were good? If not, could anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks ahead!

I did a lot of research and found quite a few people using and recommending them.

I can't say how good they are for sure yet, because I only have the one and I have only had it for 24 hours, but I'm happy.

It's quiet and I have a clear 55G tank. :D

If you want to go with Penguin, you might as well spend little more $$ and go with Emperior series... I'm sure you will be happier in the long term.

The Regent Aqua-Tech and the Penguins are manufactured in the same factory. If you were happy with you Regent then you'll be happy with the Penguin. Since Wal-mart (in Canada at least) sells the Regent you should get a better price for it then the Penguin. I had to get a Regent 10-20 t replace my Penguin 125 - I simply took the Biowheel and cover off of the fried 125 and put in on the Regent and I was off to the races.
