the tank is a 40gal with small gravel i've noticed my filter has not been flowing like it used to.i've changed the filters one then two weeks later the other cleaned the media baskets,pickup tube and box.is it about time for a new impellar it's almost a year old.also the pickup tube is all the way to the bottom touching the gravel is this right never had problems before just thought it was way to low.what do you guy's recomend as a good filter for this tank 3ftx2ftx1ft.

take the impeller out give the impeller and impeller housing a good clean.

I tend to try and clean my impellers every 4 months or so to keep the pumps in best possible form, plus it makes them last longer.

Get a litle bottle brush in there and scrub it, guranteed it's covered in brown muck.
