Pebbles / Slate from garden in tank

Would pepples / salte from my garden do alright in a tank if I toroughly boil it first?

i've set up a new tank recently and the slate would be a lovely addition to the tank.

I have used pebbles and stuff from many places for years. Just give them a very thourough clean, and make sure they are non-calcareous, (drop some vinegar on them - if it fizzes chuck it out).

With slate, it can have very sharp edges, file those down as a panicked fish crashing into it can be seriously or even fataly wounded.
