My tiny female Pearl has chronic swimbladder disorder... whenever there's a change in her environment (eg, temp, food) she comes down with really awful swimbladder probs.
I bought her a bigger tank the other day, a 1.5 gal Kritter Keeper. She was fine for a night after I acclimated her but upon leaving for school the next morning I saw that she was showing those horrible symptoms again.
I feel really helpless... I've moved her to an isolation tank with low water and painted walls so she can't see Jerry or my mum moving round the office and get stressed. I've added salt, all water stats are fine and constant but she seems to be getting worse.
I'd hate to have to euthanise her but if it's best I'd do it, I just want her to be happy... the thing is, she usually recovers, this is just a problem she has. Although it's way worse than usual, I'd hate to put her to sleep and take away her life for nothing. I don't know whether it's genetic or what but it just happens and she usually recovers in about 3 days. But it's been longer than that and she's deteriorating fast. Pearls' fins are clamped, she's resting on the tank bottom and doesn't eat well.
Has anyone here succesfully treated swimbladder disease? Please help, I'd hate to lose my darling girlie.
