my recent plan of putting an 85gal tank in my old cupbord space is now in action i was wondering what peace, slow moving fish you would recommend...

i was thinking of fish like gouramis and cichilds (i want some dwarf gourami or some discus)

i would definatly prefer some calm slow moving fish as i find them more pleasing to watch

the tank dimensions are 58 long x 24 high x 14 deep

thanks

Discus or angelfish would be nice and are bigger, peaceful fish (unless spawning) :p

Rainbowfish, if kept in the right numbers and male/female ratios are very colorful and peaceful, but aren't very slow moving.

I agree, but atleast with discuss, this means a new and more strict maintenance regiment.

However, from what I read you will never have better experience.........

hmm... not really a fan of the dragon goby

came across some pictures of a jewel fish tho just now, they look nice

As you are in bexley, I'd suggest a trip to Tropical Wholsale in bethnal green,
they have many amazing fish there and it may just give you an idea on what to have. Prices are good too.

The jewel cichlid? Pink with blue spangles? Verry aggressive, definitely not a good community fish.

If you're looking for a nice, peaceful looking fish, they don't come more peaceful looking than the angelfish. You could have a gorgeous angelfish tank at 85g.

7-8 angelfish
20 neon tetras
10 cory cats

...just for starters :p

Sorry parker, but I thought that Neon Tetras were the natural food source for angel fish. :dunno:

lol luckily i already knew that was a bad idea :p

would a tiger oscar fit in an 85 gal?

i think i'll make 2 trips to the lfs, one to see what fish i want and the second after i've researched the ones i want at home.

its annoying that i havent got the tank ready to go now... i really want some nice new fish

If it was me i'd get 8 - 10 Discus and a huge shoal of cardinal tetra :D

The tetras will act as look-outs for the Discus so they will feel very comfortable and 'hang' in the tank safe in the knowledge that their back is covered :) . The tetras will provide a little movement but nothing that will distract frm the Discus.

The again Oscars are nice too :)

i think i'll try my hand at 1 or 2 discus first before i buy a big load of them

one good thing is that my bro works for pfizer down in sandwhich now and in there on site shop they sell 40ml tetra testing kits at knock down prices (and bubble gim :p) so atleast im saving money somewhere, and someone i know has some tank he wants me to take a look at

I've also seen it said MANY times that if you get baby angels at the same time as you get the neons that it's not likely to be a problem :dunno:
