Says it all really.

Parts of my purple acropora have started to turn white, which I assume is dead. Was doing really well so dont know why it has changed. All parameters have stayed stable for some time.

Any advice would be welcomed.

White from Base or Tips ?

Acros need nice low nutrients good flow and good lights?

What are your Phos and Nitrates at ?

Flow ?

Lights?

yeah can we see a pic.
if its tissue loss then its best fragging the whole colony and trying to save the good bits.

whats exact water stats btw?

Thanks for the advice.

Unfortunately by the time I got home tonight the whole coral had turned white.

Water stats were fine, pH 8.1, nitrates 0, nitrites 0,phosphates 0, calcium 450, magnesium 1350.

Wonder if something stung by another coral as it seemed fine a few days ago and deterioated so quickly.

usually SPS can take a dleayed reaction, so if ater stats had been amiss and then been corrected over time, the corals could still have been on its way out. usually the best policy is when a coral like that starts to receed, frag it and throw the white bits
