Part of platy pregnancy?

My sunset platy, thats pregnant, likes to hide in my moonsnail shell. Whenever the male, or the other female in the tank approach it, she chases them off! Is this part of the animal instinct of being pregnant? Or does she just have character? Here are some pics

They are cute fish. That looks like a cool tank. I think that she is gaurding herself. Did she do that before she became pregnant?

Yeah, she might just be defensive. Especially if it's soon for her to give birth. I'd say that's probably where she's going to have her babies.
