i have a 55 gal and in the town im in they fish selection is TERRIBLE, the only thing i have seen that i like is Parrots, i mite pick up 3 today, what tank mates can be in with them? i must admit, they look like they have personality and the colour stands out. help me out, thanx.

Make sure the tank is cycled fishless before you put anything in.

As for parrot tankmates, I've never kept parrots but have heard that they can vary as far as temperament goes and can also sometimes be a little unpredictable. Still, anything relatively large to medium-sized and fast would work but avoid things that ar aggressive or nippy. Rosy barbs should work for example.

Once in a 400+ gallon tank I saw atleast 5 Parrots, with dozens upon dozens of cichlids.
Since a 55G is considerably smaller, I dunno if its compatable with cichlids in that.

Ask in the cichlid are if they are compatable. Thats what I'd do.
Good luck,
Ethos

3 Blood parrots will be more fish then your tank will be able to handle anyway, so adding cichlids would be not be a good idea since you'd just end up with violence on your hands. Let the fish grow into the tank and you'll see that you don't need much else in there.

I suggest you put a male flowerhorn then if your lucky and you have a female parrot then you can produce a Kamfa :D

We often use Parrots as tank mates for Flower Horns.

Putting a flowerhorn and a parrot in a 55g tank is asking for trouble..

If you want to put more then 1 fish in there and keep them in there forever, get a parrot, a convict, and maybe a severum and that would be it... parrots and severums can both grow to 7 or 8''.. so something smaller like a convict might be ok
