Those eyes are so sweet ...little a puppy dogs eyes look.

Ok so, Can you guys tell me if they’re in love?
And this behavior is a sign of mating or something thank you guys

Unfortunately no, your parrots are not in love. These fish are created by combining the egg of one fish species and the sperm of another, that woulden't normaly cross breed on their own, in a laboritory. This results in many sterile fish, that are unable to breed, and whose infertility makes them reasonably aggressive fish. The behavior is unfortunately going to be a teritorial issure, rather than a breeding behavior pattern.

Sorry if this caursed dissapointment

Cant you get the odd non sterile male blood parrot?

TBH, Iremember the deatails as to why they are sterile, thus I cannot speculate asto if it is possible. My understanding of it was something to do with how the chromosones from the two parent fish interact, but it has been a while cince I read that paper, and I don't think I'll be able to find it easily to refur to now.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance

My pair were displaying typical mating behaviour, and the female did lay eggs, which were not fertilised and eventually eaten.
Since then they have become very aggressive/territorial.
I bought them because I liked the look of them, but knew nothing about them or hybrids in general at the time.
I am going to take them back to the LFS, more because of their behaviour than how they came to be.
Although the latter point does concern me.

Regards, Don

I have two parrots in a 55g (one is an orange blood parrot, the other a 'jelly bean' parrot which is yellow). They perform the same behaviors as what's described in the first post. Obviously, one of them is female because I have a bunch of eggs about every month. My JB parrot usually defends the cave and chases anything that gets close to it, while the orange BP guards the cave fanning eggs.

Now, after reading this thread I'm a little confused... How is that considered a territorial issue if it appears that they are a breeding pair? I understand that parrots are hybrids and there's no chance they can produce fry, But what part of the behavior is considerd territorial? Someone please explain.

.Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I have the same condition going on my tank as well.
