HELP! My parrotfish which i assume is a female because of this whtie tube thing sticking out but then today when i got home, it was logner than usual, and shes attacking anyone who comes near the claypot. And she also seems to be like spinning around in the clay pot like doing something to do but not sure. Can anyone tell me what's wrong?

btw, she is unfertilized since all i got in the tank with her is a Green Terror, Oscar, Crayfish, Common, and 2 Plecos.

Shes most likely laying eggs, many cichlids will lay solo and BP's are particulary prone to. She will gaurd the unfertilised eggs for a few days then probably eat them.

When my biggest BP lays eggs she goes pale for a few days, seems normal to me?

I dont notice it in my smaller BP's though when they lay eggs.

does it takes a few days for the eggs to come out?

Yes in my experience it can, not always, but certainly sometimes

a common? LOL, whats a common? :hyper:

O SORRY i meant 2 common plecos haha and shes pretty big for a BP i think 8 inches? When does she lay the eggs though

yeh the BP i got that goes pale is about 6-7 inch

I have seen a few times where the BP will lay the eggs and she or other fish will eat them within a few minutes, so she might have laid them already.

It's all a bit of a pointless exercise a lot of the time, initially my female BP's would guard then eggs and sometimes a male BP would attempt to fertilise them.

Now, several months on, its almost like my BP's have realised nothing happens, and my female's will lay eggs in a pot and usually just leave straight away, then my Rainbow fish and Rope fish will eat the eggs.
