The strangest thing....I have a tank with 3 pacus and 2 parrot fish (needs to be a bigger tank...I know...but the bucks are stopping me).

Anyway....the three pacus vary in size, large (about 12"), med and smaller than med, but not small. The parrot fish are a little smaller
than the smallest pacu.

Once in a while the small pacu and the med pacu will start to fight with each other, that's when the bigger parrot fish will come over
and break up the fight, and if it can't, it swims over to the big pacu, who then breaks up the fight, herding the smaller fish to one
side of the tank, keeping it from bothering the med pacu. Later small pacu would swim over and start stuff with the med pacu, and again
both parrot fish this time swam over and forced the smaller pacu back to the other side of the tank.

When the fish aren't fighting, the parrot fish completely leave them alone.

I've had other fish that when they start to get aggressive, the parrot fish would quickly put them in their place. It's like they are
the calmest fish, until another fish starts to act up, then they go into that parent mode!

It's really bizaar.

Am I just reading into this?? or are parrot fish known to be peacekeepers of a tank?

It's most likely because the parrots feel threatened by the pacus.

What sort of tank do you plan to have for the pacus, when they start getting to around 1 m long and 50 cm tall?
