Hi there,
I hope someone can help with my worry - I have a 130gl tank which has a variety of species in it, tetras, clown loach, red tail black shark, pleco, catfish and a pink parrot fish.
The parrot fish is the newest addition which I put in the tank a year ago, all the other fish have been in the tank for 3 years including the pleco who is now quite large.
When the parrot arrived he was relitively small and very shy. After a while he came out of his shell and is one of the most characteristic fish I've ever kept. All of the fish seem to get on well and up until recently I've not witnessed any major aggression other than the odd chase between the parrot and shark, but these are just flashes and never amount to anything.
Which brings me to my problem. For the past 5 weeks the parrot fish has become highly aggressive towards the pleco. The parrot fish constantly stalks and harrasses the pleco, swimming aggressively around him and barging into him, mostly right at the plecos eyes, sometimes this an go on for 10minutes or more at a time and is very disturbing to watch. I'm aware that parrots can't physically bite but this behaviour cannot be good for the pleco and general atmosphere in the tank. I'm looking for any help or advice anyone may have for my situation. Should I remove the parrot fish from my tank or is the pleco not bothered by the bullying? My local 'fish guy' said that the parrot is probably mote terriotorial now he's bigger and not to worry about the pleco as they have strong armour, even around the eyes where the parrot focuses his attacks. Even though this is the case it is so constant now that I don't know what to do, keep the parrot and let the pleco be bullied or get rid of the parrot?
Please help!
Thanks
