Parrot Cichlid

As someone new to tropical fish i was mis-sold a parrot cichlid ( yes i know now theyre bad news ) but i didnt know that when i bought him. He started off as green and black striped but now hes changing and has gone a bright yellow colour with bright pink cheeks. i just need to know if this is normal or could he be ill? please help me

Sounds normal. The green and black pattern is their juvenile color, inherited from one of their parent species. As they age, they lose that and gain their adult colors, which is usually yellow or orange, but can be a few other colors or mixed.
