has anyone ever owned these?
we have them in at work and aparently they are rare in the UK.
I'm thinking of getting a few but at £5.95 each I feel it might be risky
(given that I can't keep otos alive)

I've had the pitbull plec which is a type of parotocinclus. Mine were added to a mature tank that already had ottos and both newbies were dead the next day. So I would think they can be more sensitive than ottos. Mine cost £5.99 each and i made sure to get the fattest ones but still no luck. No other fish were affected at the time.

If you get them will they have any kind of guarantee? The shop i got mine from doesn't.

I've got a pitbull plec had four but they came with internal parasites, so i would quarantine then, i had to strip the tank down and start again.

I think these are the - 'jumbo ottos' i posted about a few months back...

My LFS still has them.

Wolf works at my local LFS, and he described them as large Otto's (that is exactly what they look like). Wolf is much, much more experienced than me, but both alike, even with the best water we can get, neither of us can keep them alive!!! :byebye: I have tried ottos in 3 different tanks, all established, all with excellent water, and within a couple of weeks they have died.

Perhaps these parotocinclus will be different, unfortunately I do not have room for any more fish so I will never know!!!
