This is our oldest koi. Hes not the prettiest thing :) bless him, but he's at least 21 years old. He's been through a lot...moving ponds, the current pond has been made bigger and deeper about 5 times, a pipe leaked once and half the water had gone over night once and we lost a lot of fish, but he survived. He's beaten the herons too :)

I like that last pic with all the ripples and the beautiful koi :)

Looks like a nice pond. I have the strongest urge to sit down on that wall and just read a book in between staring at the fishies.

i love the stone as well, looks great and those fish are stunning! koi can live over a hundred i think.

Beautiful pond and beautiful koi!! I just love koi... makes me wish we could have a fish pond, but the raccoons prevent that :grr:

Nice pics.
The more I look at it the more I've been thinking about setting up a pond for myself.

I live in an apartment complex but I've been thinking about getting a large like black pool sorta thing and building up like rocks around it. I'll have to figure out more about what sort of filtration I'd be able to run though.

lol I believe it's fine to post pics of any fish here ;)
What a beautiful looking pond !

Thanks for all your comments! I'll pass them on to my dad. I do really miss having a pond now I've moved out, but I'm only renting at the mo, so will have to wait till I can buy before digging any garden up!

but the raccoons prevent that
oh right, do they sit on the side and try and catch them?

We've only had problems with Herons, dont think we get racoons in the uk. Or do we? Well to help prevent herons from catching our fish, dad has only a few shelves for the plants and filter and these are netted. The main part of the pond has very steep walls, so a heron cant sit on a shelf and reach down. This seems to have worked for the past 5 years or so.
