Hi all

I`ve recently noticed that some of my fish are occasionally "flicking" themselves off either the gravel or the ornaments in my tank...when i say occasionally i do mean it. I`m not to sure wether or not this is quite normal or not.

I have checked there fins/bodies for any abnormalities and can`t see any problems... am i being paranoid?

Cheers

I believe if theyre rubbling against stuff its an early sign of disease. You should keep a close eye on them.

Flicking is their way of scratching; it means they've got an itch. If they do it occasionally, particularly straight after feeding it may not be due to anything bad (they may have got a piece of food stuck in their gills), but if they keep on doing it may be a sign of disease: could be whitespot, incipient finrot, other bacterial diseases, internal parasites etc. Keep a close eye for further symptoms. Also, check your water stats straightaway: they do it with ammonia poisoning!
