I bought two paradise fish and put them in my 5 gallon tank, but the larger of the two is harrassing the smaller one all the time. Is there anything I can do?

Paradise fish should never be kept in pairs. Even one male and one female. They are very aggressive. Almost as bad as bettas.

Plus in a tank that small they have no where to go so they will be fighting all the time. I suggest at least a 30 gallon tank and one solitary male or one male and two females.

A five gallon is too small for even one paradise fish imo, but others says it's ok. maybe you could take them back and get some smaller fish or a bigger tank :dunno:

A 2" full grown paradise fish is fine in a 5 gal. I mean there are hardly any fish that come much smaller. You keep bettas in 1 gal tanks and these fish are the same size, smaller if you include the bettas flowing fins.

These fish were the "bettas" of the hobby until bettas came around. But it is true they will fight each other till the death if kept together. Remove one to a seperate tank or back to the LFS.

I keep my paradise fish in a 3 gal tank with a little pirate theme. ARG!!! :p

I never heard of a 2" full grown paradise fish unless it was stunted from being in a small tank. :dunno:

Mine was 4" before it died.

Would you like me to hold a ruler up to my 2.5 yr old 2" paradise fish and get a picture?

well you shudnt put 2 paradise fish together if so you will have to put them in 10 gal tank becasue they terrtiral between their selves

Got to side with impur on this one. I have seen many older paradise fish that are barely two inches long. I have also seen some that are longer as mentioned by cometcattle, but these have been few and far between. I guess in the wild they can get longer but in aquariums they usually seem to be between 2-3 inches. :)
