NOTE - These are Central American Cichlids, of the Parachromis genus, aggressive and territorial, will reach approx 10-12" full-size.

No-one interested? A bit more promotion....

These are very rare and hard to find cichlids. From the same family as Jaguar Cichlids, but better looking and grow to a smaller size!!

Don't bother with an Oscar, Severum, Red Devil..get a RTM!

Maybe intrested in some of these have you got a bit more info about them the parents look good
how aggressive are they?
what size do they get to?

Hi, thanks for your interest, sorry for the late reply.

The male is currently approx 8" and the female 5-6", the females growth slowed down as she started to breed. They will both grow to approx 12" full size, quite thick bodied species. What's special about this species, is that the female is more colourful then the male, this is a bit of a rarity amongst CA Cichlids!

Aggression - depends on the size tank. If kept as a pair I would keep them in a 75g minimum by themselves, preferably with a 5 foot length, they may even need a divider to protect the female from the male when breeding (but that's long-term). Aggression will really show when they hit maturity about 4-5". The smaller the space they are kept in, the more aggressive and territorial they will become. They are glass bangers!!!

If part of a community they should be kept with other capable cichlids such as Vieja, Texas, Herichtys species, Amphilophus species. If all are added as juveniles, this is the best chance of LT success.

I keep mine as a pair, as their behaviour is fascinating to watch. I would recommend to purchase 6 and keep the pair that forms. Alternatively, buyers are welcome to purchase a single specimen.

Hope that helps.
