Hi, I was just posting in the other forum that once I'm cycled I intended for my Pandas to be one of the fish I get on my first stocking and WD said I should check with you guys about their sensitivity? He thinks maybe I might have to wait 2-3 months before I put them in. Is that true?

Personally, I don't know why Pandas have developed a reputation for being super-sensitive. I have kept them off and on for decades and can't remember ever losing a single one. Perhaps folks are referring to Asian, farm-raised Pandas.

Waiting 3 months to tank a Cory borders on pure insanity. If I had to wait 3 months to tank a fish, I'd start collecting stamps, instead.

Then, again - I've never cycled a tank in my life. This is not the first time I have heard of people waiting 3 months to cycle a tank - but I still find it very hard to believe. I admire your patience and dedication. I couldn't do it. I have no patience, at all.. Cheers. - Frank

Ha I think he means I should wait a further 2-3 months even after my tank has cycled (I'll have been cycling 2 months this week).

Thanks for your advice, I was hoping someone would say that.

Has long as you've good water conditions,i see no reason not to add them

I was wondering this too, same plan Panda + Betta. However its not like my tank could mature if there were no fish added as I wanted to add the Betta last. The more I've read the more I see that the Panda Corys are much hardier than they're made out by some. However I don't want to test this theory by putting it in poor quality water, I will be adding fish only when the water parameters are good.

I got another question, found this new LFS yesterday (was quite impressed by the health of the fish btw - not one dead and hardly any even looked a bit ill) but a couple of the Pandas kinda looked like they were fighting? They don't usually do that do they? I did wonder if it may have been a mating thing instead

Lfs sounds good Pandas (or any corys) don't fight,they are very friendly and active corys,always wiggling around,its more than likely they were playing or getting fruity

Greetings. Although most Corys do not "fight," per se, please be advised that males of certain species will attack and kill other males in the tank. This is especially true of many of the Scleromystax species, but there are Corys, also, that display this behavior. - Frank

The only downside to this shop was they didn't have huge amounts of choice but they seemed like they really wanted to help so I bet if I asked them to order anything for me they would

Exactly, go with what you know you can and will want to keep in 1 year/2 year and so and so on. If you get something because you couldn't get the one you really wanted at the time the chances are you probably won't be as attached to it as you would if it were the one you wanted.

Panda corys are very cute, they've quickly grown on me and now they're the fish I'm willing to drive a long way to get !

I must admit out of all my corys the pandas are the most active and spend more time flying around the tank at all levels and getting up to mischief

So does anyone know what shops will sell Pandas... Maidenhead? P@H (pref not) as they at P@H the corys seem to be distributed between every single tank they have.

I think you can get the most places. I initally wanted to Pygmys but change to Pandas coz I can actually get them, unlike pygmys which I've seen nowhere. and now I prefer Pandas anyway
