Would like to add 3 panda corys to my 26 gallon tank, went to my local maidenhead aquatics and they wanted £15.00 for 3 of them or £5.50 each! that seemed a bit much, there so tiny!

so are they always this expensive is this the usual kinda price?

they are quite expensive

mine were 3.95 each/3 for 9.95 - this is the cheapest I've seen

Hiya, when you say maidenhead aquatics, that makes me think ur in england, where abts ?

im in brighton, and thought id get some, so went off looking for them at the maidenhead aqautics in angmering, and found them 2 be abt £5 - £6 each, but ive just got home from my local fishy business, and their £3.90 there! so im gettin closer to cheaper lil pandas!

incase you wanted to try them, its the fishy business in portslade, brighton.

I live in surrey near croydon, the maidenhead Aquatics was in Morden

well I don't know the dollar for pound conversion but i've found some baby pandas at my fish stores (about an inch or less in length) for about $2.50 a piece

that's quite a lot

I got mine this monday from a local lfs for £2.99 each. Thats the same price as bronze cories.

However in a thread in teh Pics forum we were discussing the price of pandas ;) and another member said hed seen them for £12 each.

How big are the ones you saw? smaller ones tend to be cheaper but I've seen 1.5" ones at £7.50.

I bought them when they were costing $7CA each and only one LFS in the whole area carried them.

Now I see Big Al's carrying them and they sell them for $3CA each! They are supposed to be more expensive, but I guess they found a local breeder...

clutterydrawer have you got a link to that thread in the pics forum?

The ones i saw were just under an inch long, i dont mind paying that if its the going rate but its just they seemed a hell of alot compared with the other cory's

Around my way they are just slightly higher priced than the bronze and albino. IMHO, they are under priced because they are much harder to breed (and especially to raise) than most of the commonly found corys.

BTW, here's a currency converter that might help us here:

Hello

I bought two Panda's last Sunday from my lfs in Nottingham and they cost £1.95 each - also locally bred from what they said :) Maybe that's why they are a little cheaper?

Hope you find a better price :)

Tim

I must be lucky, they were only $2.99 at my lfs! I got 3 pandas and a skunk cory last time I was there and I only got charged for 3 fish at $2.99 ea. They may have given me a good customer discount or something, but I don't know...

I have seen these fish recently.....priced between £1.95 and £2.50 each...only little ones(like you said-under an inch) Maidenhead aquatics can be pricey.....but,if you had to travel further....your petrol costs and the stress on the travelling fish would rise!! Your call methinks!! :D

as already mentioned I've seen them for as much as £12 each (for big-ish ones), and if you go back £20 years they were as much as £30 each apparently!

Cheapest i've seen seen them for is at maidenhead aquatics for the same prices as you mentioned.

Wow. I wish I could find Panda Corys for $3.00 or less each! Cheapest I've seen them in Minnesota is $5.98 each (but 25% off on Mondays, yay!). They were around $8 at another fish store I went to the other day. -_- 'Spensive little fishies (compared to other Corys, anyway)...but oh so cute and worth it (although they're not as easy to keep as Pepper Corys...I seem to not have good luck with the Pandas).

Trimar have tank-bred ones for £2.79 each at the moment. But of course if they're the only fish you're buying, then the £10 carriage charge would make them more expensive.
