one of my panda corydora is exibiting worrying signs. the only fish I ever lost was one of the panda corys form the same place I got this on, and he was showing dimilar signs befor he died. the cory in question was leaning up against the glass and was not responding like all the others do when I put food in the tank. when I tapped on the glass lightly, he didn't respond, but then a minuet later he zoomed away and started diging like he (or she) ussualy does for food. I was wondering if there is a internal parasite and what to treat it with. tank has 0 nitrite amonia ect. and I just did a 50% water change sunday. the tank is a 29. could it be possable he is suffering from having a small school? there used to be 4 (which is still a small school, but my tank was full) but now that there are three, would he be lonely? my tank is at least 6 or 7 months old, so I was wondering if i could get a few more pandas. thanks.

Hi FrankSlapperinni,

Hope your panda's ok. Sometimes they are just like that and nothing is wrong.

When you cleaned the tank on Sunday did you siphon the dirt up from out of the gravel? Since corys live on the bottom they are more sensitive than most fish about this. Make sure you suck the dirt out not just take water from the top of the tank.

Another thing about corys is that they like a low plant to go under when they are in their quiet moods. A cave is good for them if you don't want plants. They are a bit touchy about bright lights and they like to get in a shaded spot sometimes.

A group of 3 corys is ok, but if your chemicals are good and all the fish are healthy, I don't think another one or two pandas would make much of a difference.

But keep an eye on the little guy you are worried about for a few days and let us know how he is.
