I know that cories cannot handle salt! Nor would I do that to them.

Here is my situation: I orderd 3 panda cories for my guppy tank. In the time that it took for them to come in Ich hit that tank. I treated with ich meds and salt w/heat.

When the pandas came in I put them in my 55 with my albinos. I would like to at some time still put them in my 10 with the guppies but I do not want to risk their health. Is there a certain time frame or water amount change that I should wait or will I never be able to put them in there? :dunno: How do I know that the salt level is gone for them?

Hi motherof6 :)

I'm glad to learn that your pandas arrived safely.

While the medication can be removed from your tank by putting charcoal in the filter, salt must be taken out by doing water changes.

If you do a 50% water change, you have removed half of the salt. If you do another 50% water change the following week, you've taken out another 25%. I think that it would be safe to add them at that time. Then, your regular small water changes would gradually eliminate the rest.

If you're in doubt about the quality of the water, take your time, especially if they've settled into the community in your big tank. :D

How do you like the little guys? Aren't they cute?

Thank you Inchworm for your reply!

I was so glad when they came in but bummed that their new home was not suitable for them.

It took them almost a week before they would come out and play but they are doing very well now and just adorable! My guys named them after old west bandits (not that we can tell them apart  )

I really need bottom feeders in the other tank so I will do as suggested and just give it some time.

I always tell my kids have patience or become one (patient: go crazy) so now I will have to practice what I preach. :*)
