So my panda barb has been pooping these long strands that kind of look like gooey spider webs. They are all over the tank, and nasty. What could be wrong with him and is there anything I can give him to make him.....um... I guess regular. Or do I make a tiny spidey suit and have him go out and fight aquarium crime. The suit would be to mask his identity...of course. Also anyone know how big panda barbs get. Thanks for any info.

What are you feeding them and how long has it been like this? Are these new fish?

As an immediate attempt to "clean them through", I'd feed peas. Most barbs love peas anyway, but they do have a calming affect on the digestive tract. Varied diet of course always the best.

I'd not heard the common name "Panda Barb" before, but it seems to be a US name for Barbus melanampyx. A shoaling fish best kept in groups of 5-6 fish. Can get very shy if housed in too small a group. They easily grow to 100mm/4" and can get a good bit larger in open water. As with all barbs, they are sensitive to Nitrogen pollution, so good water quality is important.

He's been around for almost a year in my tank, and hangs around with my black ruby barbs. I love his long fu man chu barbels. He has been pooping like that for maybe a month and I have always fed him the same type of food. I feed him flake food, but it doesn't have a label and it come from this sweet old Japanese dude, who is probably around 80 years old. I think he makes it. He 's got a shop in korea town and I swear it looks like in the movie gremlins where he purchases the gizmo thing. Except with fish. Every time I go in, I'm thinking he is going to take me in the back and show me a three headed freshwater apisto/guppy seahorse. He is pretty sweet. Anyway I'm digressing. All the other fish are doing fine. I like the peas idea, i will give it a try. Peas usually just give me gas, so I hope the pandas tank mates don't mind a little panda tooting. Do fish pass gas anyway? Anyway thanks for the info i appreciate it.
