Paludarium Lighting ?

Trying my hand at a miniature paludarium before I go invest a lot of money in a large tank. I have a five gallon tank that is just sitting around the house and I want to know if I can get by with just switching out the current bulb with a plant friendly bulb from the local hardware store. My hood can hold up to a 15 watt max. Like I said I'm new to this so please, all the help is greatly appreciated.

If it will fit, one of the spiral shaped compact fluorescent bulbs will give a lot more light than a similar wattage incandescent bulb. Some hoods are made for only the long thin incandescent bulbs and the spiral compact won't fit.
