I just got a betta yesterday who's got a 5 gallon tank all to his little ownsome. I wondered if he could do with some company, but I dont want frogs or shrimp. Any suggestions?

I don't reccommend any other fish for bettas... I think you can put them with snails though... -_-

I asked the same question, and knowing nothing about bettas was told corys would be fine with them. Of course you'll need a tank sized for a cory (a group of 3 cories min is best ) rather than a tank sized for a betta. I don't know if 5g is enough for a cory, I would doubt it.

Thanks folks - you've pretty much confirmed my thoughts. A snail it will be (a big one so he won't munch it) :p

If you put a snail in there, don't forget that they don't do well with salt.

I've never added snails to my betta tanks/jars but I've heard that some bettas love snails!
for lunch, for dinner, a late night snack....

I think it depends on the relative size of the two of them and if the betta can figure out how to get at the snail or not!

Thx Gale - I knew that snails did'nt like salt so when I move one from my other tank I will need to do a water change as I put some salt in to help my betta settle in to his new home
