dunno whats goin on, when i first had my 3 clowns they were all plae... two o them sadly passed away.. but the final one never changed its colour.. its still realy pale :( its always hidin as well..

im gettin two more clowns this week hopefuly (if they have them in stock)

what could be wrong with me loach? :-(

It's stressed, test you water conditions before you put more fish in.

this tank has been set up for a few months now.. i know how to test my water and i do it on a regular basis, tests always come back the same

0.0 ammonia 0.0 nitrite and roughly 20-30 nitrate

this loach arrived in this condition.. iv tried everythin i can think of, thats why my next move was to add more loaches....

hes a shy retreating loach, always prefers to hide rather than be out in the open...

My largest clown was also really pale when I first got him, but after feeding him
colour enhancing flakes and bits for the last 3 months he is now as bright as all the rest :kana:

well iv added two more of them today.. he seems a bit more active

seems to be playin kissin chase with my albinow rainbow shark

well like i said hes out alot more now, the shark has been moved to another tank as it seemed he was bullin the loach, his colour still hasnt improved tho... maybe if i gibe him time? -_-

I have 3 clowns, and they have always been quite dull in colour. They have brightened up since I got them, but not as bright as some I see. I looked into it, and found out that Clowns come from Sumatra and Borneo (I think) and apparently the ones from borneo (again i think!!) tend to be brighter coloured than the ones from sumatra. This may be the answer to your question. I think it is probably also due to the fact he's lonely on his own, but don't be too concerned if he never gets quite as bright as some of the ones you see!!

hes not lonley now tho -_- im thinkin of gettin another one to make it upto 4... like i said.. hes out more, last night he ever ate an algea wafer with the light on

is black looks grey and his orange looks like a... light light light orange.. almost aoff-cream colour... iv never seen this before his greay is like a greyish blue..

I think if he's brave enought to eat in front of you, then hopefully he is ok, and he's just naturally dull coloured. The other thing with clowns is you'll find one of them will probably be the most colourful. This will be the dominiant one, and they can change colour pretty quickly according to their mood.
I think yours sounds just like my 3 when I got them. It took them about 2-3 months to get to the colour they are now, and even longer to get as brave as they are now. I very rarely see mine hiding anymore. Have a look at my pics of them in my gallery and you'll see that they aren't as bright as a lot of others you see (bear in mind that I enhance the colours of the photos a bit!!).
HTH

so hes either dominant or a sub-dominant fish...

well seeing has hes been this colour since iv had him it must have been like this when in the shop (this i wouldnt know as i ordered them from trimar)

so i shall now call him 'dominion' :look:

I've found the most dominant one tends to change colour the most. It's really shows if you stuff a large pellet in the tank and its being greedy chasing the others away.
