I have a male yabbie in my main aquarium and a female yabbie, which I have just sexed, in a small tank. She is now getting too big for her tank and now that I know she is female I'd like to pair her with my male. I want to make sure she'll be ok though, that's really important to me, I don't know if anyone remembers the post I put up about her, she was the legless, clawless yabbie I nursed back to health, in case you are interested here is the thread. Any tips on introducing them would be great as I obviously don't want her to lose all her limbs again. She's getting big now and I want to keep her after all we've been through.

I've put her in now but I pulled up a chair and kept an eye on her, he seemed to behave himself. he was a bit chargy but at one point she even walked past over him and he rolled on his back so I'm quite satisfied she's gonna be ok.

I'm please they seem to be getting on, though sometimes you could be lucky, loss of limbs is quite normal when you have more than one crayfish in a tank; if it is something that you feel really strongly about I would keep them seperate. By the way I thought it was great the way you dealt with her when she was incapacitated; good luck with her all the way.

Cheersfor that. They seem to be doing well, not very cosy at the moment, she seems to be keeping her distance, but if he really wanted to hurt her I'm sure he would've by now. I'm keeping an eye on them, if they lose a some limbs i'll separate them, as you said, 1 or 2 is to be expected, as long as neither lose both their front pincers. I would like to keep them separate just in case something happened to her but it's not fair to keep her in the tank she was in (20L) and I wouldn't wanna give her away. But they seem to be getting on ok, and if I'm lucky I might even here the clip clip clip of mini pincers!
