Pairing external filters

I have a spare fluval 204 and was wondering if its possable to conect it to my existing 204 via outlet hose to inlet. I dont realy want two outlets in my tank ,but was hopeing to use it as a pre filter so to speak.

i cant see why not...except if the output and suction between the two differ will that not create a problem? ie. when the prefilter is pushing harder than the next one is sucking!


as an aside i set up two big eheims on mine and hid the twin in/out lets....water has gone from very good to looking like you could drink it!

I wouldnt think that would be much of a problem as both filters are the same, the only diffrence would be the filter media, as i was thinking of just using filter floss in the first filter and the ceramics in the second.
