Painting The Wooden Trim On Tanks

In my random internet searches for second hand tanks (cos we all love a bargain!) few tanks are in black which we would prefer so that it matched the room better. Is there any specific kind of paint to use or would some gloss or plasticote or something be fine?

Been looking at the Juwel Rio range for reference.
