some of u know ive recently bought a pair of hql light off of ebay second hand and there great apart from one thing the colour is god awful!

question is will radiator paint be good enough to cover them with i figured it has to be heat resistant to go on radiators the can states heat resistant up to 50 degress celcius. do we think thats enough heat resistance for lights of this power?

Unless it's a paint made to be transparent (Which I dont assume radiator paint would) It would totally defeat the purpose of buying new lights. By the time you find a paint that will look ok you might as well have spent the money to get some bulbs you really like new.

EDIT: Maybe you mean the actual light housing... in that case yes you could probably use radiator paint if you would really like. I would definately hit it with at least 2 coats if not 3 to make it look good. You could get high temp engine paint also for different colors.

yea i meant the housing

its a god awful purple sort of colour at the minute want to paint it white or black not decided yet just i have white radiator paint in already but i think the engine paint might be a better idea actually. heat resistant up to 650 degrees celcius! certainly will be enough :good:

lol, 650c is more than enough ;). Those halide cases prolly get in the 100c range if not cooled with a fan, but nowhere near 650

its done now

there jet black the paint i got was suitable for 500 degrees so still plenty cheers for all the help everyone :good:

No problem. You could probably find a high temp clear coat spray paint as well if you want to make them even shinnier!
