Is a Pacu Compatible with an oscar if so would one oscar and a pacu be good in a 125 gallon tank? I dont know anything about them but a friend told me they might work out.

pacus and oscars are compatible

pacus need much larger tanks then 125 gallons though. the tank would need to be at least 8 feet wide and 3 feet deep IMO to accomodate a pacu. at least 350-400 gallons for sure. they grow massive

It's not onlying about room for a pacu, it's being able to handle a group of them, since they are, afterall, shoaling fish. You can do a nice shoal of silver dollars though.

As a point, if you could find the true red-bellied pacu you might be in luck. These guys max out at around 10". I forget the latin name, but CFC had it a few months ago.

But make sure the jaws line up. If it has an underbite then it's a piranhha which is not suitable for an oscar (not if you don't think of oscar as feeder fish, anyway...)

lol great, oscars are definatly not feeder fish, they might be a higher priced feeder fish lol but not what i plan on having happening in my tank, I think i will pass on the Pacu's then. Thanks. Maybe some tin foil barbs? they get big and are also shoaling fish.
