Pacu tankmates

What fish can coexist with pacu in the same tank?

large bottom dwellers. like plecos or species of catfish. also large shoaling species like the tinfiol barb. the gourami or kissing gourami in a large tnak can grow very large so are also good companions

Since pacus grow extremely large (3 feet long) they should be put in with other extremely large fish. But pacus are also herbivores so they aren't aggressive usually. Most people can't afford the tank sizes needed for pacus. I know I can't afford thousands of gallons of tank size (even if I dream about a tank that large! )

Not only do pacus grow to 3 ft long (and very deep, wide-bodied with it), they are also shoaling fish and should be kept in groups. For this reason they are not suitable for the home hobbyist.

I've seen pacu kept with common plecos, sailfin plecos and large schools of silver dollars etc.
